the future?

Do you ever wonder about the future? I do all the time, I have to I still have an entire life ahead of me and I am trying to decide what I am going to do with it. Now that I am married I have to take into consideration things like future children and their well being. That’s why we moved back to Princeton (I was just lucky she fell in love with it here), I wanted my family to grow in what I consider our traditional family home. On our family farm we are going on 4 generations of our family being raised here. There are not many places that can still claim that they have had their farm that long. But will we always be able to stay here? That’s what I struggle with. I want to stay in Princeton but unless there are some drastic changes I cannot see how anyone from my generation can stay here and raise a family.

So what needs to happen to make Princeton change? Well first I think we must begin to work together as a community. A community cannot remain divided if it is to move forward. As a community we need to embrace the new technologies out there like the Internet so we can remarket Princeton as a place not only to visit but to invest in and do business in. We need to work with out neighbours in the Similkameen so we can create an image, people know where the Okanagan is, or the Thompson but the Similkameen! By working with partners like this we can make our money go farther and reach more potential business partners. In order for this to happen the community needs to work together because no matter what Town Council tries to do we cannot force the people of Princeton to do what we want them to. There are very strong opinions about working with other groups within town or even with out Similkameen neighbours. Once these problems can be fixed then and only then can Princeton begin to move forward in a way that will make it last forever.

Then maybe people of my generation will stay here, raise families here and our school can reopen and our hospital can get more funding.
